Rough and Tumble - Friday 20th May

The crystal clear River Greta flows through a deep gorge and presents all the challenges typical of upland streams - white water, deep blue pools and chaotic pocket water, not to mention the rugged terrain. Local guide Eric Hope knows every boulder and every lie - join him as you fish your way up and around each inviting corner in pursuit of some of the regions spookiest trout.

Sorry - both sessions now fully booked.

river_greta_1Challenging fishing , but hugely rewarding.  This is all about strategy, approach, concealment and positioning. Just how am I going to get a fly to that fish? How will I get it to present in a natural looking way and avoid that tree at the same time? What is it actually feeding on?  Eric will give you the answers during a thoroughly entertaining session of fishing and give you the confidence to go on and successfully tackle these waters on your own. Don't expect big fish or a bagful, each one will be hard earned - but all the more worthwhile for that!

There are two sessions on the day , morning and afternoon with each lasting around three hours. You should already be a reasonable caster and be able to put a fly roughly where you intend it to go. You'll need to be reasonably agile, in places the going can be 'bouldery' and the wading perhaps a little 'edgy' at times. Are you up for it?

When.  Friday 20th May  Morning session starts at 9.30am, Afternoon session at 2.00pm.

Where.  On the River Greta near Keswick. Meet at the Co op car park in Keswick at the times above before going on to the river.  See map link.

Cost. £20.00 per person for each session which includes tuition and fishing fees.
