Something Different

Mullet on the Fly - 19th, 20th, 21st, May

lee castingLee Cummings - AAPGAI Instructor, phenomenal caster - and one of the few anglers in the country to have worked out how to consistently catch mullet on the fly. Update - 19th and 20th now fully booked - a couple of places left for the 21st.

Lee lives on Cumbria's west coast and has spent years perfecting his methods and searching for the top venues in his single minded pursuit of this most challenging of fish. Now he's ready to pass on that knowledge to anglers looking for something very, very different. Lee has set aside three days over the festival week to help other anglers get to grips with a fish that makes the average sea trout look like a wimp. Sizzling, burning runs that can strip a full flyline in seconds - and just when you think you are back in control - off it all goes again.

Don't expect this to be easy, these fish are immensly wary. Nor can you expect large numbers - the tidal window of opportunity is relatively short and time needs to be spent in careful reconnaissance. Casting needs to be precise and unflustered. But hook into just one fish and you'll be converted for life.

Five places aremullethomepageimage available each day and should be booked directly with Lee. The cost is £30.00.You will need a standard stillwater type set up - rod 9ft,  6 or 7 weight with a floating line and good reel. Waders, waterproofs, hat, polaroids are essential.

Please note that for the Friday (21st) session lady anglers have first call!

Lee will supply further details on bookings and, once you've signed the Official Secrets Act, he'll even tell you where you are going!

There will also be plenty of time on the day to take advantage of Lee's excellent casting instruction.

Book early for this one - there was high demand last year.
