FISHERY RULES; SPECIFIC FISHERIES

HIGH NEWTON RESERVOIR

1. Fly Fishing only. Open all year.

2. All brown trout must be returned.

3. Vehicles must not be parked adjacent to, or at any point east of the reservoir house or where they may cause obstruction.

4. Fishing is permitted from the dam but not from the valve tower platform.

5. Extreme care must be taken when backcasting, particularly when fishing the east bank adjacent to the lane.

DUBBS RESERVOIR (Currently closed for repairs)

1. Fly Fishing only. Open 15/3 – 31/12 inclusive. All brown trout must be returned.

2 Vehicles must not be parked where they may cause obstruction to others using Dubbs Road. Members are requested to use the Association’s private car park adjacent to the filter house.

3. Fishing is permitted from the dam but anglers must stay behind the safety fence. Fishing from the valve tower platform is prohibited.

4. Members must take extreme care when backcasting, particularly so when fishing the east bank adjacent to Dubbs Road.

GHYLL HEAD RESERVOIR

1. Fly Fishing only. Open all year. All brown trout must be returned.

2. Parking by the dam gate is prohibited and vehicles parked along the public highway must not cause obstruction.

3. Fishing from the valve tower is prohibited.

HAYESWATER

1. Fly Fishing only. Open 15th March – 30th September Inc.

2. Sight indicators, sight bobs or other floatation devices are not permitted.

3. Access to Hayeswater from Hartsop is by foot only and under no circumstances must vehicles be taken beyond the public car park at Hartsop.

KENTMERE TARN

1. Fly Fishing only. Open 15th March – 30th September Inc.

2. Sight indicators, sight bobs or other floatation devices are not permitted.

3. Boats or float tubes may not be used on the netted off East Bay.

MOSS ECCLES, HIGH ARNSIDE.

1. Fly Fishing only. Open 15th March – 30th September Inc.

2. Sight indicators, sight bobs or other floatation devices are not permitted.

3. Access is by foot only, vehicles must not be taken along the track to the fishery.

HIGH FAIRBANKS TARN

1. Fly fishing only. Open 15th March – 31st December Inc.

2. Strictly catch and release only.

3. Sight indicators, sight bobs or other floatation devices are not permitted. The use of buoyant lures, (e.g. boobies and muddlers), are prohibited when using sinking lines.

4. The Fishery is open to members only. There is a limit of four vehicles on the car parking area at any one time. The parking area is situated adjacent to the cattle grid at Borwick Fold. Vehicles must only be parked in this area and must not park so as to cause obstruction. Anglers are warned that cattle may be in this field and the Association cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to vehicles.

5. The only route of access to the fishery is from the farm track on the right 200 yards along the road heading north from the parking area.

SIMPSON GROUND

1. Fishing on Simpson Ground is limited to four anglers per day and must be booked in advance through the Association Manager.

2. There is no access to the fishery before 8.00am.

3. Anglers must park in the designated parking area adjacent to the cattle grid 150yds before Simpson Ground house.

4. Fishing is not permitted from any part of the dam.

5. Boat anglers must keep at least 25 yards from the dam.

6. Fly fishing only. Open 15th March – 31st December Inc.

7. Strictly catch and release only until 1st October after which rainbow trout only may be retained. The bag limit to be two fish.

8. Sight indicators, sight bobs or other floatation devices are not permitted. The use of buoyant lures, (e.g. boobies and muddlers), are prohibited when using sinking lines.

THIRLMERE

1. Fly, lure, worm, saltwater dead baits only. Open all year, (15th March -30th September inclusive for trout)

2. The use of maggots and groundbait is not permitted at any time.

3. No fishing along the southern shore from Wythburn Beck to a point below Wythburn Church.

4. Members wishing to use electric engines must first register their boat with the association and must display their registered number on their boat.

RIVERS ROTHAY AND BRATHAY.

1. Above the confluence, fly, lure and worm only. Open from 15th March – 30th September.

RATHERHEATH TARN

1. No access whatsoever is permitted on days or evenings when shooting is taking place.

BLELHAM TARN

1. Fishing is restricted to pegs adjacent to the boathouse and those on the east shore.

CLEABARROW TARN

1. Fishing shall be from the constructed platforms only.

2. Anglers wishing to fish overnight must book in advance with the Association Manager. A maximum of two anglers per night will be allowed (excepting accompanied juniors).

3. Anglers fishing overnight must use only the prepared bivvy platforms.

ATKINSON’S TARN

1. No parking in front of or adjacent to the lodge.

2. Anglers wishing to fish overnight must book in advance with the Association Manager. A maximum of two anglers per night will be allowed

(excepting accompanied juniors).

3. Anglers fishing overnight are restricted to the island.
