Dubbs Trout Fishery

This popular WADAA fishery has an elevated setting on the ridge between Troutbeck and Kentmere alongside the track to Garburn Pass. Despite it's location there is vehicular access under most conditions - unless you happen to be particularly low slung!.

Dubbs covers roughly five acres with a maximum depth of fifteen feet. Water quality is excellent, with an unusually high pH for the area - and the rainbow trout do well in here; being invariably well conditioned and hard fighting.

Early season can be a little cool but by April the fishing is in full swing with good buzzer hatches followed by the usual seasonal pattern of fly. Trout are normally well dispersed and the water fishes all round. WADAA stock regularly with rainbows averaging 2lbs and plenty of fish in the 3lb -4lb range. There are also small wild browns. Dubbs is home to a thriving native crayfish population and is also a noted hot spot for adders.

The fishery is open from 15th March until 31st December.

Dubbs is currently closed for repair work to the dam but expected to re open to fishing early in 2010
