exchange permits

WADAA's exchange permit arrangements give members the opportunity to sample the waters of several other Angling Associations in Cumbria and Lancashire and provide access to some excellent river fishing for trout, sea trout and salmon. For our coarse members we also have an exchange with Ribchester and District AC offering very good fishing for coarse species on the Ribble.

upper edenPlease note that this exchange facility should not be seen as a 'back door' route to another clubs fishing and excessive use of the same club's permit is discouraged. Please also remember that the opportunity for our members to fish these other Associations' waters is a privilege. The club does not take lightly any abuse of that privilege - to do so would incur not only the wrath of any host association but also swift and summary retribution from your own.

Two permits a day are available for each host Association’s waters. The permits must be booked in advance and can be obtained in two ways;

  • Collect the Exchange Permit

The Exchange Permits are held by Neil Birkinshaw in Grange over Sands. Please book if possible by email, if not by telephone. If available, they may be collected the day before use. Permits must be returned at the end of the day of use.

  • Get an email Exchange Permit
For exchanges marked with an asterisk * we can issue you with an email version of the Exchange Permits which saves the bother of collecting and returning the hard permits. To do this send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your name, where you want to fish and when. You must also give your EA Rod Licence number. We will send you back an email permit. All you now have to do is to print off any maps or rule information from the host Association's website before you go. A copy of your email permit also goes to the host Association
