Fishing Reports
29th August 2010
There's been a marked change to autumn conditions with cooler nights which should soon see trout back hard on the feed on all the stocked stillwaters. The outlook for reasonably settled weather over the first part of September should also mean that sport holds up well on the coarse fisheries. Salmon are not being reported in any great number despite a good lift in the rivers last week and it could well be another very late season. Signs of an improvement for pike anglers on most of the major fisheries.

29th August. A big rise last week saw a few fresh fish move in but not really in any great number and fishing dropped off almost as soon as the water. It looks once again like anglers will be kept waiting until the very last few weeks of the season.

29th August. Water levels are steadily increasing but still little fishing taking place. Trout fishing finishes on here at the end of September but the last few weeks can produce some good catches particularly if the weather remains reasonably settled.

29th August. Fishing has improved on both waters over the last week and the prospects for the back end are looking up. Numbers of smaller pike are being taken along with some very respectable perch. A specimen fish of 22lbs has been reported from Rydal this week. As the weather cools a few more of these bigger fish should appear in the frame.

29th August. Ratherheath continues to produce a steady stream of good carp, bream, tench and roach. Fishing has improved at Cleabrrow following weed raking with carp to 16lb and tench to 8lb reported over the last week. At Castle Head regulars are recording at least a couple of carp together with tench to 5lbs for their visits. Atkinsons is still producing big nets of silver fish and overnight anglers are reporting better sport as the larger carp return to the feed.
