helping out
Although we now have employed staff to manage the Association there are still plenty of opportunities for members to volunteer and get involved in the running of the fisheries.

WADAA Fishery Managers

carp stockingWe are always on the look out for capable volunteers prepared to take responsibility for the day to day operation of each of our fisheries. Your role will be to monitor how the fishery is performing and feed back fishing reports, ensure compliance with the fishery arrangements, help with stocking and generally assist in maintaining the site in good order. We would expect you to be able to patrol the fishery at least three or four times a week. It is interesting work and makes a huge contribution to the management of our waters but it won’t suit everybody. Reliability, common sense and the right attitude are essential - and much more important than any particular knowledge or skill. To become a WADAA Fishery Manager you will first need to attend a couple of training sessions and undergo a CRB check.

WADAA Work Parties

From time to time we arrange work parties particularly if we have the sort of job that needs a lot of hands This is often on fishery sites with limited access and might involve  tree and scrub clearance, moving bulk material, path construction and so on. The work parties are normally posted well in advance and all members are encouraged to come along when they can.

instructingAngling Coaching

Teaching youngsters to fish can be extremely rewarding and an opportunity to put something back into the sport that has given you so much enjoyment. WADAA runs a full coaching programme for juniors and we always need extra help. You can get involved as a Coaching Assistant or you may want to go further and take Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications. Courses are run on a regional basis for these last two and grants are available to help out with the cost.
