September/October and even November can be excellent months with the bigger resident fish increasingly turning up in catches. This is the time of year when the shallow end comes into its own as the trout patrol the lilies and weedbeds for fry and late season nymphs. Quieter, autumnal days will see trout smutting on the surface when cdc emergers in 18,s and 20,s are always a good choice. As we move in to winter the best of the sport will be concentrated around early afternoon.
